Araghchi made the remarks during a phone call with President Joseph Aoun of Lebanon on Wednesday. The two discussed the latest developments in Lebanon and the region.

The foreign minister briefed the Lebanese president on Iran’s latest diplomatic efforts to end the Israeli regime’s attacks on Lebanon.

For his part, Aoun said diplomacy was the best way to put an end to the crises in the region.

On June 17, Iran and the United States signed a 14-point Pakistan-brokered Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which calls for a permanent end to hostilities across all fronts, including Lebanon.

However, the United States has perpetrated numerous violations against Iranian territory since.

The United States and Israel launched another round of illegal aggression against Iran on February 28, some eight months after the unprovoked attacks of June 2025.

Iran responded decisively in the form of successful missile and drone strikes on the Israeli-occupied territories and US bases across the region. The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic are now in full control of the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
