Iran cradle of monotheistic religions, says presidential adviser on religious minority

Iranians are proud to live in a country that is the cradle of monotheistic religions such as Islam and Zoroastrianism, a senior Iranian official says.

In a message to mark the birth anniversary of the Zoroastrian prophet Ashur Zartosht, Iran's presidential adviser on ethnic and religious minority, Hujjat al-Islam Ali Younesi, said that Iranian Zoroastrians throughout the history have spared no efforts to maintain the country’s festivities and help develop its culture.

He congratulated all Zoroastrians around the globe and the Iranians in particular. 

There is no doubt that Nowruz, which commences the beginning of spring and the start of New Persian year, is a common heritage of all Iranians irrespective of the place they live in, the message read. 

It is worthy to mention that Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Revolution frequently stressed that all ethnic minorities and followers of all divine religions must enjoy equal rights and religious and social freedoms.

Imam also recommended the relevant authorities to fully observe rights of ethnic minorities and followers of all divine religions across Iran.  

The late founder of the Islamic Revolution used to hold several meetings with spiritual leaders of Christian, Jewish and Zoroastrian communities in order to highlight their key role in the country’s progress.
