In a briefing with journalists on Wednesday, the Iranian president voiced hope that Iraqi nation would push the Takfiri Daesh terrorists and could soon regain stability and security.
“We, as a neighboring country, will continue assisting those nations and governments, which have called for our help,” President Rouhani said, adding, "We hope that the Iraqi nation would push the terrorists out of their country, and for Syria, as well, we hope that the people of that country would see days of higher security and stability not only in the month of Ramadan but also the rest of the year."
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian president strongly denounced terrorist activities in the region.
President Rouhani made the comments after a meeting with Iran’s Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli-Larijani and Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.
In an exclusive interview with Lebanon-based al-Mayadeen television aired on June 11, Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari said that his country needs Iran's assistance in fighting terrorists.
The administration of Iranian President Rouhani has campaigned for a World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE) which was approved by the UN General Assembly in December 2013.
It is notable that Imam Khomeini, the late founding leader of the Islamic Republic through his messages and speeches used to denounce all types of violence and terrorism. Following the footsteps of Imam Khomeini, senior Iranian officials have made their top priority to confront terrorists such as Daesh, which are wreaking havoc in several countries, especially in Iraq and Syria.
