I hope I will never forget the hospitality of the French nation and government and their freedom-loving sense. I would like to extend my apology to the neighbors and the local people of Neauphle-le-Chateau for all the inconvenience I have caused them. I hope they will approve of the esteem in which I hold them.

How did the Soviet Union end?

The collapse of the Soviet Union made the bipolar world disappear, a world which through the last decades had decided about the political destiny of countries. This situation eased the reliance on culture to determine different layers of foreign policies in a government-nation level by the international players. On the other hand, it confirmed that along with the cultural role of politicians, we shouldn't forget that not seeing the effects of religious features, believes and traditions of nations on structuring a culture would cause disasters.

On January 4th 1989 Imam Khomeini’s message was delivered to Gorbachev by his selected delegations who were Ayatollah Javadi Amoli, Mohammad Javad Larijani and Mrs. Marzieh Hadidehchi Dabbaq. Eight weeks later Gorbachev delivered his response to Imam Khomeini by the then Soviet foreign minister, Edward Shevardnadze in Tehran. Gorbachev saw a great value to Imam’s message in his response, but it was clear that he had not understood the spiritual dimensions of Imam’s message. Because he had first tried to describe his activities for promoting political freedom in the Soviet Union and then he had described the achievements of a communist economic from 1917 till now. In the meeting between Eduard Shevardnadze, those days Soviet foreign minister, and Imam Khomeini, Ali Akbar Velayati, those days Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Larijani, deputy of the foreign minister and a member of the delegation, and Alireza Nobari, then the Iranian ambassador to the Soviet Union were also present.

Imam Hussein (as), the Master of Martyrs, fought against oppression and tyranny and gave everything he had, his children, his family and himself in order to save Islam. Imam Hussein’s (as) movement was able to destroy a dynasty. The reason we cry for Imam Hussein (as) and hold mourning sessions, which we were told to do by Imam al-Sadiq (as), is not only because the tragedies of Imam Hussein (as) truly breaks our hearts and fills us with sorrow but it is to continue his uprising against oppression and tyranny.

Fo’aad al-Razim: Imam Khomeini made the matter of Palestine global

Fo’aad al-Razim has been in Israeli prisons for thirty years, until recently when he was freed. He visited the International Imam Khomeini University of Gazvin, and talked of the Imam’s role in making the struggles of Palestinians a global issue. He also thanked the Iranian people for their help and support. In addition he talked of his experiences and the strength of the spirit of resistance in Palestine.

Sheikh Na’im Qasim, who is the deputy head of Hezbollah, attended the Martyr Motahhari Book Reading Competition. In this competition he delivered a speech regarding the high status of Martyr Motahhari and added: “Hezbollah’s foundations are based on the thoughts of the Imam, Martyr Beheshti, Martyr Sadr and Martyr Motahhari.”

A meeting based on the Imam’s role in the Islamic awakening of the world will be held on Thursday the 22nd of December. This meeting will be hosted by the Imam and Islamic Revolution Jahad-e-Daneshgahi University Cultural Centre at the Zanjan Medical Sciences University Department. In addition the current uprisings will be discussed and the effect of the Imam’s ideals on these uprisings will be debated.

The Real Meaning of

People mistaken the phrase 'Everyday is A'shura and everywhere is Karbala' to mean that they should cry everyday. However they do not know the real meaning of this phrase. What did Imam Hussein (as) do at the battlefield? He fought against oppression and tyranny and although he sacrificed a lot, in the end he was the victor. This phrase tells us that we should fight against oppression everyday and treat every land like Karbala, a land where tyranny can be beaten.
